Risk Management in Dynamic Environments

Workshop Outline:

Work environments aren’t always static (unchanging) with easily identifiable and constant risks to manage. Staff often work in dynamic environments (such as working out in the community, visiting client’s homes, construction sites, farms, orchards etc). Learn how to identify hazards in these changing environments and respond with appropriate controls to make it safer or determine when the level of risk is too high and the work needs to stop or not start at all.

  • Understand the difference between hazard, risk, event, incident, and near miss.

  • Understand the difference between a static workplace and a dynamic workplace.

  • Deepen understanding of the risk management cycle and how this applies to your work.

  • Understand why, when, and how to do a dynamic risk assessment. Understand what risk appetite and one’s individual risk appetite versus your organisation’s risk appetite affects your risk decision making.

  • How to select and apply controls to reduce the risk of work activities and work environments.

  • When to cease work and the process to follow.

  • Understand the importance of reporting hazards and how to report
